2012 is
The End of The World

As you may have heard, 2012 is the end of the world.
The Mayan calendar is being blamed for this.
It seems as if Latinos are blamed for everything.

Ironically, I once watched a TV. program that tried to figure out if Aliens from Outer Space actually built the Mayan pyramids.
Let me get this straight. Our Meso American ancestors were not sophisticated enough to build the pyramids, but they were sophisticated enough to predict the end of the world?
I’ll bet the instruction manuals on how to build pyramids were inside one of the libraries that the Spanish Conquistadors burned down.
That’s what happened when the Old World met the New World. There was destruction and fire. And one world lost its art, culture, and history.
Well, that’s happening, again, but this time, it’s happening to all of us. And this time the conquistadores are pint sized and very cute.
All of our libraries are disappearing, our book stores, too.
Small children yield incredible shrinking rays called scanners.
They are reducing the entire contents of libraries into small tablets and Ipads.
They refuse to look you in the eyes as they turn Wisdom and Deep Thoughts into 140-character things called Tweets.
What the great Mayan scientific poets were trying to text us was that a Industrial/Cultural/Technological Tsunami would happen again. And it would come in ways we only slighted imagined just like some of our ancestors never imagined ships coming from the edge of the world which would be carrying our other ancestors who feared that their ship just might fall off the edge of the world.
Our own leaders are just as lost. They said they would close the borders, and they did.
Of course, we didn’t know they meant Borders Bookstores. That too marks the end of another era.

We will remember this moment as the starting gun for change at blinding speed.
But have no fear, we have been here before.
We suffered the creation of the definition of Old World meets New World. We are the children of the empires of both worlds.
The skills we developed to survive the physical and psychological impact of that clash will now be of use once again.
That’s what our name Aztec Muse means.
We are inspired by the echoes of Meso American culture that even 500 years later resonate powerfully in our culture. We also manifest the highest forms of Western Thought as inspired by the Muses of Greek Mythology.
We bring both together day in and day out throughout the U.S.
Our broad backs provide hard work. Our broader imaginations encompass the full gamut, and depth, of what it means to be the empire coming as well as the empire going.
America, as you waver in your beliefs in the government, the environment, even capitalism, we remain unwavering in our belief in the American Dream.
At the same time, we also deeply understand the limits of borders, wealth, and leaders.
We are attracted and abide by deeper values that unite us all in these states of minds.
During the Depression, we were there working alongside your poorest, shocked that you had been reduced to our standard of living.
You fear our numbers, but don’t need too. We were there during WWII, Korea, Vietnam,  Iraq and all your battles, on the home front, and in the front lines. We’ve always had your back.             And you’ve given us a record-number of Congressional Medals of Honors to prove it.
We tend to your children, we tend to your houses, but now we also sit next to you in Ivy League class rooms and in board rooms, quietly lending a hand, working over time, all the time.
We will be here at your side during this tumult struggling for the cause of Peace, Justice, and the American way. It will simply boast different nuances.
2012 is the beginning of the world.
